Please join President Anita as she welcomes Frode Skjolingstad, a former National Team athlete and coach, who has dedicated his life to helping others reach their potential. With two decades of coaching Canada’s National Luge Team, he knows what it takes to handle pressure, stay focused, and perform at the highest level.

He holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta and is a Master Hypnotherapist, Master NLP Practitioner, and Certified Coach with training through Transform Destiny.

Through his company, Stepping Thru Consulting, Frode helps athletes, professionals, and women in business strengthen their mindset, break barriers, and build confidence to succeed.

What drives him most is seeing people light up as they discover their strength and achieve goals once thought out of reach.

Blending the discipline of high-performance sport with powerful psychological tools, Frode’s mission is to guide people toward lasting transformation. Whether on the track, in the boardroom, or in life, he believes success begins in the mind.

Previous Club Event: March 24

We took a road trip to The Common Works, a central hub for creativity in Cochrane that combines practical maker facilities, artistic exhibition spaces, and community-focused programs. It provides opportunities for both professional artists and community members to engage in hands-on creative activities, fostering collaboration and cultural growth in the region. Tony Millwater shared a presentation about the developing vision for the Common Works. Tony also invited those in attendance to tour this creative space.

Paul Harris Fellowship

The Rotary Club of Cochrane is seeking nominations from its membership for a Paul Harris Fellow to be awarded at our 35th Anniversary Celebration on May, 28th.

Nominations must include a letter of support from the nominator (less than 500 words). Nominations should be received by April 1st.

The following are some considerations and guidelines;

-A difference maker for their organization(s) and the community

-Has demonstrated 
“Service Above Self.”

-The individual is not a Rotarian.

-The individual has not been a previous recipient.

The recipient will be selected by a committee comprising the foundation chair, Dan Paarsmarkt, and at least two other Rotarians, and will be ratified by the Board.

The winner will be announced at the Rotary Club of Cochrane's 35th Anniversary Event.

The Rotary Club of Cochrane was chartered on May 17, 1991. To honour our Club's beginning, we will be having a grand celebration at the Ranchehouse
HALL OF VISION on May 28th.

The evening will be a fun celebration!

Tables will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Scott Grattidge will be our Master of Ceremonies.

As The Trail initiative advanced beyond foundational planning and partner alignment, engagement with Indigenous communities became an essential and meaningful component of the project’s development.

Discussions were initiated with Stoney Nakoda Nations and other Indigenous partners west of Cochrane — recognizing that trail alignment, land stewardship, cultural respect, and long-term opportunity must be approached collaboratively.

These conversations extended beyond pathway design alone. They included considerations of environmental stewardship, cultural landscape recognition, and the potential for economic participation associated with trail development and tourism.

Milestones like this reflect an understanding that projects of regional scale are not built solely through engineering and funding — but through relationships, respect, and shared opportunity.

As engagement continues, these partnerships remain an important part of shaping how The Trail evolves, both as infrastructure and as a corridor connecting communities, histories, and futures.
