Previous Club Event: March 17

We held our quarterly Business Meeting, during which Club members had conversations with our various Club Committee Directors.

Sergeant-at-Arms is a regular part of Rotary Clubs, usually happening near the end of general Club meetings. It is a long-standing tradition practiced by many Rotary Clubs around the world. It is a fun way to poke affectionately fun at club members while raising funds for the greater good of the community and our world.

On Saturday, March 14th, from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm, members of the membership committee, Kirsten, Chris and Martin operated a Rotary table at the Cochrane Immigrant Services Newcomer Welcome Event at Frank Wills Hall. The event was packed with newcomers and long-term members of the community. In total, 23 individuals signed up for the Club bulletin.

Paul Harris Fellowship

The Rotary Club of Cochrane is seeking nominations from its membership for a Paul Harris Fellow to be awarded at our 35th Anniversary Celebration on May, 28th.

Nominations must include a letter of support from the nominator (less than 500 words). Nominations should be received by April 1st.

The following are some considerations and guidelines;

-A difference maker for their organization(s) and the community

-Has demonstrated 
“Service Above Self.”

-The individual is not a Rotarian.

-The individual has not been a previous recipient.

The recipient will be selected by a committee comprising the foundation chair, Dan Paarsmarkt, and at least two other Rotarians, and will be ratified by the Board.

The winner will be announced at the Rotary Club of Cochrane's 35th Anniversary Event.

HALL OF VISION on May 28th.

The evening will be a fun celebration!

As work on The Trail moved from planning into implementation readiness, one of the next major milestones was the execution of the project’s first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among key partners.

While early collaboration often begins informally, projects of this scale require documented alignment between jurisdictions and stakeholders. This initial MoU represented formal confirmation that partner organizations supported the trail vision and were prepared to participate in advancing its development.

More than a symbolic gesture, the agreement established a shared understanding around roles, planning cooperation, resource participation, and long-term intent. It also created the structural foundation needed to pursue funding, complete detailed planning, and advance infrastructure discussions.

Milestones like this are less visible than trail construction — but they are essential. Before pathways are built, partnerships must be formalized.

With support documented and aligned, the project was positioned to advance into deeper planning, communications development, and infrastructure design.
