RIP, dear Dolly Parton.  While she was well known for her talents as a songwriter, singer, and actress, she was also a philanthropist who made childhood literacy a major part of her life's work through her Imagination Library, which ensured millions of young children worldwide had access to books. Business Meeting

Tara and Chrystal shared information about how our club hopes to support the Nepalese people during this time of great need. (See below)

Alex reminded us about the importance of our Club's involvement in the Trans-Canada Trail Project.

Lorissa gave a membership update and urged our Club to bring in new, younger members in more creative ways.

Miles shared ideas for helping our Club members get to know one another better by sharing personal updates. Martin and Bill were asked to go first in the coming weeks.

Howdy from Hank!

"The following are two emails: One from Allan and one from Tara, as well as attachments outlining a fundraiser for Nepal that our RC is supporting. This email follows up on a presentation Tara gave to the club on Tuesday.

It should be noted that we had previously announced a donation of $5,000 in relation to Shelter Boxes' support in Nepal; there is no funding being provided to this specific fundraiser."

"Hi Hank,

Tara and our international committee are putting together a fundraiser in conjunction with Tara's restaurant to raise more funds for Nepal.

Chrystal and I met with Tara and Chef G today to review some of the logistics and challenges of putting this event together for Saturday, Oct 3rd.

We are raising additional funds for Shelter Box, and all donations will come from corporate sponsors or personal donations made directly to Shelter Box in support of this event.

Tara and Chrystal will update the club on Tuesday with more details on the project , and we will be looking for volunteers to help on the day of the event.

The club will not be required to contribute additional funding to Shelter Box, but we would like board approval to support this project and allow us to attach the Rotary Logo. Do we need board approval if the club isn't making any financial commitment?

Tara will be in Nepal for a couple of months (mid  Oct - Nov)

Our ask is that we would like to put our Cochrane Rotary logo on the project along with AAMA.

Tara has already spoken with Glen and Kelly Kimmett to get ideas to help pull this fundraiser off in 3 weeks.

Thanks

Allan"
