The International Committee of the Rotary Club of Cochrane has committed itself to a learning journey focused on how to do development work that is truly effective and sustainable. Part of this journey includes the establishment and support of a long-term poverty alleviation project with Mayan villages in southern Belize focused on building the capacity of grassroots people and community institutions to promote their own development. This project provides a kind of living learning laboratory oriented to continuous improvement of both the processes and the outcomes for all the partners of the project.
