"Through the years, we have seen the registrations decrease in the vocal and instrumental category, and increase in the dance category.
The initial mission of the festival (fostering a love of the arts in children) and the objective (to provide a safe space for children to perform) had become less of a need with the rise and accessibility of the social media platform.
Dance has MANY MANY performance opportunities, so to spend this money to provide, yet another dance venue, seems a waste.
My decision to finish festival is not with the intent that someone else will pick it up and continue; it is with the hope that we rethink what the holes are for the young people in our community. Where is there a need?
Just like 30 years ago when this festival began, we must reconsider what we can invest our time and money into that makes the greatest impact on the youth of our community. I don’t believe it is festival as we see it today- but I believe that there is a new opportunity that just waits to be discovered – and I am looking for it!!"
