Rotaract E Club for Peace and Education: The 1^st Anniversary of the Charter of the Rotaract E Club for Peace and Education took place on September 1^st. The club started with 20 members and as of last week they had inducted the 30^th. President Marwa and Rotaract member Martin made a presentation to The Rotary Club of Chapala, Mexico. Two projects are ongoing: 1. Application for a $2,000US grant from the Afghan Sports Trust for a weekly on-line Yoga and Fitness Course and 2. The development of an Afghan Cookbook as a fund raiser for data packages and devices.

 

Casino: Lorissa was away so Martin asked the club for help in filling the remaining slots. They are: Sept. 30^th, 6.15pm to close Chiprunner #2; Sept. 30^th, 10.30pm to close Countroom Staff #5; Oct. 1^st, 6.15pm to close Chiprunner #2 and Oct. 1^st, 10.30pm to close Countroom Staff #4 and #5. Putting for Polio: So far 40 have signed up for the September 23^rd event. Shotgun start at 5.30pm so please arrive at the Pro Shop around 5.10 – 5.15pm to pay for your round and collect your putter and ball. After the event we will meet at the Hotel for food, refreshments and prizes. If you have not signed up please let Martin know at mjparnell@shaw.ca.

On December 9th, the Rotary Club of Cochrane will be holding elections to serve on the Board for the Rotary Year 2026/27.

 

All these positions will be for a two year term.

The positions open for elections are as follows:

 

·Secretary

·Treasurer

·Communications Director

·Club Services Director

·Membership

We will also be electing a President-Elect for a 1 year term.

 

The Board will be setting two nominating committees.  One for the President-Elect position and one for the other 5 open Board positions.

The nominating committee for the President Elect will be composed of immediate Past Presidents of the club.

 

The nominating committee for all other Officer and Director positions will be made up of the President-Elect, the immediate Past President and one Director who is serving the second year of his or her term and is appointed to the position by the Board.

 

Both nominating committees will be appointed at our Board meeting on October 14th.

 

In order to qualify for the President-elect nominee must have previously served as the Secretary, Treasurer of a Director of the Club for at least one year.

 

 

 

 

Oscar Lizcano was our Outbound Student to Brazil and he will provide us with a presentation about his year in the southern hemisphere.

The membership Committee had a booth at the Farmer's Market on Saturday.

 

The purpose of the event was to promote Rotary to the community, let people know what we do for the community and world, and to show that we are a vibrant, fun group of volunteers. We had several people stop by to say they are interested in our Club and what we do.

 

 

• "Cycle for Seniors" program with Big Hill Lodge needs bike drivers to help give seniors some fun time around town on their special "rikshaw" bike.
