August 26th STARS Tour:

A reminder from Hank...

"This is a brief reminder to join President Anita and her fellow Rotarians for a road trip to the STARS base at YYC at 1441 Aviation Park NE in Calgary.

The event is open to Rotarians and guests and will include a tour of the Link Centre which coordinates medical personnel and aviators; the Education Wing; as well as the helicopter area.
After touring the facility we are planning to convene at the lounge of the Port of Call restaurant at 1935 McKnight Boulevard NE, Calgary.

Since their very first mission in 1985, providing critical care, anywhere has been their North Star – their guiding light in everything they do.

It all began when a pregnant woman from a rural community died from blood loss, leaving a father alone with their newborn child. To the founders of STARS, her death was a preventable one. They believed that no one should go without the critical care that could save their life, no matter where they live.

Motivated to change emergency care for patients who needed it, STARS was born. A helicopter air ambulance service built and supported by the community; STARS became the best hope for patients in a worst-case scenario.

From a single helicopter to a network of highly skilled professionals providing care in the air, on the ground, or virtually, STARS has grown into a leading-edge innovator, harnessing their passion for saving lives to shape the future of critical care.
As they have grown and evolved, STARS has never wavered from their mission.

Fundamentally they believe that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are. If you need critical care, their mission is to be there for you in whatever capacity they can help. Because when it comes to the next patient who needs them, it’s never too far.

So that we get a semblance of the number of people who will be joining us, if you can register via the link in the initial invitation that was sent to you or just send me an email by NOON on Saturday.

Thank you,

Hank

Bill took a local Senior out for a ride as part of our "Cycle for Seniors" program partnership with Cochrane's Big Hill Lodge. The ride went well, but Bill's Senior passenger would not put on his seat belt! ;-)

An important message from Leslie:

Hello fellow Rotarians.

Well, it seems that I am not the only one not wanting to hear another request for Rotary Meeting Duties.

Thanks to those who have agreed to volunteer.

Remember, if plans change, the plan can change, please do not hold back due to lack of knowing when you may or may not be available.

Our most urgent request if for members to train to do AV duties.  We currently have 2 members who have volunteered for 3 months in a row each.  This is not something that I wish to continue.

Our needs include:

Setup/Take down for May and June of 2026

Attendance - all filled up

Sergeant-at-Arms: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 14, May 12, and June 9.  This is the second Tuesday of each month.

Audio-Visual: All dates from January to June of 2026.

Please contact Leslie Simms:
