Our meeting for September 1st has been cancelled as our club will be involved in a BBQ for several hundred students and parents at Glen Bow Elementary school at noon on the first. The Rotary Club of Cochrane has a busy calendar in August and early September, as we served lunch for 70 plus residents at Big Hill Lodge on August 12th; we will be doing a highway clean up on August 25th; we are presenting the Outhouse Races on August 30th; and lastly, our club has been given the honour of Parade Marshal for the Town of Cochrane's annual Labour Day Parade on September 7th. |

The Rotary Club of Cochrane has been chosen as Parade Marshal for this year's Labour Day Parade as part of the club's 35th Anniversary. The responsibilities of the Marshal are honourary leaders of the parade and we are asked that members of the club march in the parade with a special Marshall banner. We are also being asked to choose a charity to donate the collected entry fees for the parade. |

Jasmine Holroyd is our Rotary Adventures in Citizenship who we sent to Ottawa in May. Jasmine will be making a presentation on her experiences at this event. This annual event provides a unique opportunity for a selected group of young Canadian to come together and gain a better understanding of our country. Through meetings with political leaders, officials, and experts our Canadian students learn about the workings of our democratic institutions and issues affecting Canada and Canadians. By meeting their peers from across Canada they learn to better appreciate the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship. |
