Communications Update- Expanded Newsletter

During this time of seeking answers, social distancing and looking at things a little differently, our communications committee will be looking for ways to open up and encourage communication amongst our club members - since we will be limited in our face to face contact.

Our goal in these upcoming newsletters is that each person has the opportunity to stay connected.

We aim to support each other through this time of isolation by creating on-line fellowships and information sharing opportunities as we continue to build fellowship and friendship.

Sincerely,

Anita and Cyndie

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

March 31st at 7:00 pm: Cochrane Rotary Young Professionals Inauguration (ZOOM invitation to follow)

April 7th at 12 noon: Rotary Club of Cochrane Membership meeting (ZOOM invitation to follow)

Our Board is working on a community needs assessment with our Mayor, Activettes, FCSS and the Lions Club of Cochrane, to find out where the Cochrane Rotary Club  (including the Young Professionals) can best respond to the needs in our community.

Personal Updates

In our expanded newsletter, we would like to encourage each one of you to send us personal updates that we can post to our club members. We would love to include “happy buck” reports, ways you are dealing with self-isolation, what you are doing to stay mentally and physically healthy, etc...

Please send these to Cyndie at cgbaum@ucalgary.ca, or call at (403) 874-8717 with your update.

Questions and answers

We would also like to create a question and answer type of blog within the weekly newsletter. You may have something interesting you would like to share, a question about this virus, or something completely different that you wondered about and might have talked about with a friend over coffee. When we receive your questions, we will reach out to club members and other experts to provide some possible answers or thoughts.

Please send your questions to Cyndie at cgbaum@ucalgary.ca or call at (403) 874-8717.

Fireside Chats- Highlighting Members

As an additional way to keep you connected, we would like to highlight members from our club each week... kind of like a fireside chat. Tell us about YOU- possibly what we may not know, some of the things in your life that has caused you to grow and change.... possibly a 4-way test response. We are excited about having each one of you participate in this get-to-know our club members activity.

On-line ZOOM Meetings

As you know, personal distancing regulations prohibit our gatherings each week so our upcoming meetings will be on ZOOM. For those of you who have never used ZOOM, we are happy to provide an instruction sheet for you to use and we will be sending you ZOOM invitations in order to access each meeting. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, in advance of these meetings. (Please call or email Cyndie)

Contacting You

Our board members will be calling each of you in the next few days with a two-fold purpose:

1.  An attempt to cover areas of need that you might be experiencing (food, transportation, etc...).

2. Any immediate needs in your neighborhood or our community that could use our club support.

Honorarium for Cathy Adlington

Because we will not have lunch meetings at the Legion for the next period of time, and since we will not be using our meal cards right now, it was suggested that some members might like to donate one or more meals to Cathy as an honorarium. If you wish to make this donation, please contact Glen Gryzko (glengryzko@shaw.ca). Glen will keep a record of your donation and will present it to Cathy at an appropriate time. Thanks to each member for your kindness and consideration.
